LG brings Cinema 3D tech to monitors

LG seems to be doing a lot of stuff with display technology, like their E2770V-BF 27-inch 1080p Monitor as well as their 47 inch transparent LCD-IPS displays. Now, LG is bringing its Cinema 3D to monitors.

The D41P and D42P monitors have 1920 x 1080 ranging in size of 21.5 and 25 inches and uses FPR (Film Pattern Retarder) technology. This is a special coating that can ditch the heavy active shutter glasses used by many other manufacturers for a lighter passive type.

The end result is a way to view regular programs in 3D. For example, you can view Microsoft Word documents in 3D, but I don’t really see a need for that. Anyway, other features include an HDMI 1.4 port, 2D conversion feature, as well as a 5ms response time.

I don’t know what the cost is for the D41P and the D42P monitors, but they should be available sometime in June, and then in Europe at an unreported date.
