LG 42LE5500 Television Review-A Mixed Bag In Its Own Right

LG televisions have sometimes proven to be mixed bags all in the same unit.  The LG 42LE5500 is going to be one more that’s like that, doing some things really well and other things not so well.

The LG 42LE5500 is a forty two inch 1080p LCD television that offers an electronic program guide with channel lock, two ten watt speakers with included surround sound mode, one SCART input, four HDMI inputs, one PC input,  two composite inputs, headphone jack, one component input, a variety of digital playback options and a remote.

I was definitely surprised by this one–while I didn’t much care for the picture this one put up, the sound was surprisingly good for a pair of ten watt speakers.  Maybe it was just the room I was in at the time, I don’t know, but it was the last thing I expected.  And while there are plenty of inputs for both new and old equipment (skewed slightly toward new), there’s an extra note of good news in terms of pricing–you can find this for eleven hundred bucks out at BuyDig, which isn’t a bad price for a newer model LCD set.

You can probably do better than the LG 42LE5500, but if you do go with this one, you should be reasonably happy.
