Some of you might remember a scene in The Fifth Element where Gary Oldman pushes a glass off a desk, and a series of robots come out to clean up the mess. Clearly, it was the inspiration for the Roomba.

Imagine if you are sitting around watching a movie on your home theater, and you spill something. Instead of getting up, you can interface with a Microsoft Kinect Hack and motion it to clean up your mess.

That is what is demonstrated by Akhiro Nakamura (no relation to Hirmo Nakamura from TV’s Heroes) as it can be directed to spills by a gesture.

I see a picture of the future of spilled chips equals a gesture to a Kinect-controlled Roomba. Yes, the future is a lazier place.
