April 25, in Blu-Ray

JVC has announced its first Blu-Ray player. The new JVC XV-BP1 is scheduled for release in March of this year with a suggested retail price of $299.95. The JVC Blu-Ray player will not only play back standard Blu-Ray discs, but will also offer playback functionality for the AVCHD format, the high definition format most widely used for HD camcorders.

Other formats available for playback with the device include JPEG, MP3, WMA, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, DTS and DTS HD. One especially exciting feature of the JVC XV-BP1 will be its BD Live compatibility. BD Live compatibility via a USB port enables the player to be connected directly to the internet to access BD Live 2.0 features, such as software updates, new movie trailers, subtitle updates, gaming, chat, and online shopping.
