James Cameron plans to redo cinema (again)

I think we all know that James Cameron will forever influence cinema with this terrific films with Aliens, Terminator 1 and 2, The Abyss, True Lies, Titanic, and Avatar.

That alone will make you go down in movie history, not to mention his technical contributions that will forever affect film. I’m not talking about the Avatar 3D that is often imitated.

James Cameron is planning on doing something very cool to film that hasn’t been done in years, changing the frame speed. Since the 1920s, movies are at 24 frames per second, and he wants to do it at 48 frames per second. Cameron tested this out on an audience, and many claimed that the 48 fps shots were “far clearer and also had a much more realistic tone to it”.

He may even want to get it as high as 60 frames per second, but tested audiences didn’t really see a difference. Cameron apparently plans to shoot the sequel to Avatar in at least 48 fps. Will this change cinema and home theater as we know it?
