If you’ve been following the home theater related tech community (which you probably have considering you’re reading this site) you’ll undoubtedly know of the rivalry between Google TV and Apple TV. While both products are quite capable at doing what they set out to do, Google TV has some distinct advantages over the Apple TV. One advantage, for instance, is the fact that Google TV owners have the chance to actually browse the web through the platform from their television without ever having to leave the couch.

Well, for you adventurous folk out there it seems that the Apple TV is going to get the same treatment soon enough. Of course, you’re going to have to jailbreak your device in order to get down on the web browsing goodness but tehn again, don’t you have to jailbreak all Apple products to unlock their true potential?

No word on when a public Apple TV web browser will be released but we will keep you posted.
