Steve Jobs has said that the iPad is supposed to be some sort of “game-changer”, and I can see it being used for the home theater.

I have heard that Control4 is putting their Universal Remote on the iPad, which could effectively kill the Universal remote market. I can see what is next for the iPad and the home theater.

Imagine an iPad dock put on a coffee table or entertainment center. When you get home, just plug in your iPad and use it to control whatever video content that you want that evening. This video content could be stuff that you had downloaded during the day. You should also be able to download video content from your television or DVR onto the iPad.

In short, the iPad could become a way of taking our home theaters with us. Is this what we want?
