How To Get New Releases Out of Netflix

There are some of us out there who favor using Netflix to get the newest and latest DVDs rather than as a massive junkyard for getting all the great stuff we remember watching when we were kids.  I’m personally one of those users myself. But for those of you who want big and new and RIGHT NOW, I’m going to give you a hand.

One, thin out your queue.  The more stuff you have in there, the more stuff Netflix’s systems can send you INSTEAD of that new release you want.  So if you keep your queue thinly populated with only new stuff, the systems have to work to get what you want.

Two, mail your DVDs on Saturday.  If they arrive Monday, your next releases will go out Tuesday.  Tuesday is historically new release day for most video stores, and Netflix is no exception.  Your chances of getting what just came out of the box just went up.

Three, buy the smaller package.  Netflix speed bumps.  There’s no denying this one, that if you rent more movies Netflix will slow you down by sending stuff slower or from farther away.  But if you’re only getting a couple at a time, it’s said to increase the likelihood of getting the stuff you’re after.

Those are just a few suggestions–the internet’s lousy with information on how to get what you want out of Netflix–so keep your eyes open.  You never know what you’ll find.
