Don Grusin ‘The Hang’ to be Released on DVD-Audio

May 11, in DVD-Audio News

Sovereign Artists have announce the return of Grammy® Award-winning artist Don Grusin, whose latest album, ‘The Hang’, was recorded live with the help of seventeen of his closest friends and will be released as a DVD-Audio title in August.

When eighteen of the greatest artists in contemporary music get together to hang, the result is more than just great music. It’s history.

This historic album features a who’s who of the global contemporary music scene, including multiple Grammy winners, who came together to hang out and jam on two new songs and twelve new arrangements. It’s the only time, ever, that this many players of this calibre have come together to perform on the same album.

As befits a gathering of this magnitude, a first-of-its-kind, direct-to-disk, 96kHz, 48-track digital recording system was used to capture the performance in 5.1 surround sound, so that those who weren’t fortunate enough to witness music history being made can still hear and feel every note just as the artists intended.

The Hang’ will be released in August 2004 as a stereo CD, 5.1 Surround DVD-Audio title and 5.1 Surround DVD-Video disc.

Featured artists: Don Grusin, Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, Alex Acuсa, Charlie Bisharat, Ernie Watts, Frank Quintero, Harvey Mason, Abraham Laboriel, Natali Rene, Nathan East, Nelson Rangell, Oscar Seaton, Phil Perry, Pete Escovedo, Patti Austin, Ricardo Silveira and Sadao Watanabe.
