Cablevision Announces TV And VOD Streaming For iPads And Other Network-Enabled Devices

Recently, Tom Rutledge from Cablevision announced that they will be offering broadcast TV and video on-demand services for network-enabled devices such as the iPad. Currently, the company is developing program guide software for Android and PCs as well. However, unlike TV programming providers like Comcast and Dish Network, Cablevision intends to restrict access of this new service to in-home use only. Furthermore, Light Reading reports that this information came during Cablevision’s second quarter earnings call and it was also revealed that the PC to TV Media Relay for bringing web video to cable box is still being tested prior to a fourth quarter launch. Meanwhile, the upcoming network DVR is in its second phase of development and should be released later this year.
