Best Buy Black Out Campaign

Best Buy, the big box store home electronics chain, will be launching a “Black-Out Prevention Campaign” to help educate consumers about the upcoming changeover from analog to digital broadcasting. While the changeover has been pushed back while Congress waits to refund the government coupon program that was set up to provide people with help in purchasing converter boxes, Best Buy is encouraging its own customers to act now and not delay.

A new Best Buy educational message will simulate what will happen to an analog picture if a customer isn’t prepared for the transition. It will then urge consumers to act now and detail their three options to get ready. On February 17th all Best Buy Home Theater personnel will wear “Black-Out Prevention” t-shirts to encourage questions and sell converter boxes and digital ready televisions.
