Arkiv Music Sale Offers Albany Super Audio CDs for $9.99 Each

ArkivMusic.Com is offering Super Audio CDs from Albany Records for only $9.99 each through Sunday, September 10th at Midnight. The offer also includes the balance of the label’s catalog as well. This is a savings of $7 per disc. Albany Records is a division of Albany Music Distribution which not only handles the company’s namesake Classical Music label Albany Records but also distributes a number of small and independent labels.

Albany Records describes the music in its catalog as Classical Music that is “off the beaten path” and focuses on American Composers of Classical Music. The label has issued several Hybrid Stereo and Hybrid Surround Sound SACDs of Classical Music over the last few years. Catalog Super Audio CD titles from the label that are on sale for the $9.99 price at ArkivMusic.Com include:

Three New Albany Surround Sound SACDs Included
In addition to the earlier Hybrid Stereo and Hybrid Surround Sound Super Audio CDs from Albany Records, the sale at ArkivMusic.Com includes the three Surround Sound SACDs that have been released by the label this year. One interesting note about these releases is that they are being presented in DigiPaks rather than the CD Jewel Boxes that were used in past Albany Records releases.

The first Surround Sound SACD features recordings of Symphony No. 7, The Alamo and Portrait of a Frontier Town by American Composer Don Gillis whose compositions feature western music themes. The second Surround Sound SACD is part of a series of Super Audio CD recordings of Symphonies by George Lloyd – in this instance Lloyd’s Symphony No. 11. The most recent of the Surround Sound SACD features marimba player Nathaniel Bartlett performing compositions by Philip Glass, Allan Schindler, Greg Wilder, Augusta Read Thomas and Steve Reich.
